Coriander is a photophilic plant and therefore the weed control is very important part of the growing. Coriander is cold-resistant to 4°С. The optimal temperature for the coriander is 18-20°С.
Coriander has a poor root system and it’s considered as a humidity-loving plant. That’s why irrigation is needed. Best irrigation is the drip irrigation.
Coriander prefers generous soils that preserve the humidity and have alkalescent reaction.

Hazelnut Planting
Planting of the hazelnut should be done in the autumn.
You have to make a hole 60x50sm and fill it with rotted natural fertilizer up to 10-15kg, mineral fertilizers – 200g superphosphate and 50g sulphate of potassium, and generous soill. Planting distances should be at least 4-5m between plants. You have to water the saplings generously but not in dry years. Natural fertilization is done in every 2-3 years and mineral fertilization yearly.
For normal growth and development of the hazelnut bush you often have to prune it and leave only 8-10 stems.
In the autumn you have to cover low growing branches with soil or snow so they can spend the winter successfully.
Hazelnut Pruning
The forming pruning is of great importance for the hazelnut. The plant needs a big amount of sun light and the crown must have an access to light and air. There are 3 types of pruning:
- cutting the middle branches off so the crown will look like a vase – this shape is good if you have only one hazelnut bush;
- the stems are bound on the left and the right side to aluminum wires so the crown will be V-shaped;
- the bush acquires the form of the tree with one trunk.
When you’re doing the pruning, you have to remove only the old, the dried up branches and these that are too closed.
Hazelnut Reproduction
The hazelnut bush is pollinated by the wind. If you want a good crop, it’s recommended to plant more than one bush. You can also do a crop-dusting which is very good for small bushes. The time for pollination is 15-20 min.
Vine
Vine irrigation
For effective irrigation what matters is not only the duration but the amount of the water. The period when the vine most needs water is between the cracking of the buds and the beginning of the blossoming season. In this period usually the soil and air humidity is high. During the blossoming season this need of water is not so strong and if the humidity level is higher, the blossoms could fall off. After the blossoming season the vine needs more water and that is till the middle of August.
The best irrigation for the vine is the drip irrigatuon.
Vine Pruning
Pruning is absolutely necessary for the vine. If you leave this creeping plant to grow by itself it will create a thick net of sticks. The fruits will move too much away from the bottom of the plant with every year. To avoid this you should prune the vine and use supporting constructions. There are some good mouldings for the vine: cup-shaped, trellis vine-shaped, Guio, Moser, Ombrela and etc.
The winter pruning is the leading one. There’re two types of winter pruning – short and mixed, depends on the vine sort.
Preserving the vine material
The preservation of the vine planting material in the winter has to be done under certain conditions. Usually you have to have a room, specially build for the purpose. The young vines bought in the spring can be kept for a short time before planting. You have to put them vertically in wet sand and cover them. They can be preserved in basements, under sheds or outdoors in wet soil and filtered place if they’re recently planted. During the winter the temperature must be between 0 and 8˚C. If the soil gets dry you have to wet it with a sprinkler. The transportation of the young vines must be done in days with positive temperature values. The vines must be covered so they won’t dry up. The planting vines have to be 32-34sm long and have at least three good developed roots that are pointed to different directions. The planting vines must be absolutely healthy.
